Description
The Jefferson Memorial was designed by architect John Russell Pope of the architectural firm Eggers & Higgins. It is designed in the neoclassical style, as characterized by its symmetry, the mathematical ratio of its elements, and its use of Doric columns.
The building houses a bronze sculpture of Thomas Jefferson by sculptor Rudulph Evans. The interior of the building is inscribed with Jeffersonian quotes. The landscape of the building was designed by famous landscape architect Fredrick Law Olmstead.
