Description

Barcelona landmark Casa Milà, also known as La Pedrera (meaning “open quarry”) was designed by Antoni Gaudi under commission from Pere Milà and his wife Roser Segimon to be their home. The windows and twisted wrought iron balconies were designed by Josep Maria Jujol. It is an example of Art Nouveau Modernism. Antoni Gaudi designed many buildings in his particular modern style, his name, translated to gaudy, became synonymous with that which is overly showy or tasteless.
