Description
The Houses of Parliament in London, England, is the seat of the British Government. It is also known as Westminster Palace, as it is officially the property of the Monarch.
Its architecture is the result of a collaboration between architects Charles Barry, who designed the structure and Augustus Pugin, who designed much of the Gothic detail. The style of this building is Gothic Revival, or Perpendicular Gothic. Nonetheless, many have argued that due to its symmetry and balance it is essentially a neoclassical building adorned with Gothic detail. It was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1987.
